Never More Disappointed

When I watch those who support the former President to run against President Biden in the 2024 Election, either on television news, or Facebook, or other social media site. I have never been more disappointed in my country than I am now.

I have also never felt this way about a potential president in my 72 years living in the U.S.A. In the past, we voted, our candidate won or lost, and we might have grumbled about it, but the office and its occupant were still respected. Ronald Reagan, darling of traditional conservatives was certainly not my choice, but I made the best of it, and spent some of his budget while in the defense industry. W., who would go on to invade Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11, was a man I never had much use for, from a policy perspective, but he was the President and these were his decisions, supported by the majority of the American people. When Colin Powell publicly supported the “WMD” rationale for invasion, it was tough to argue with such a man. Even Richard Nixon had his moments.

Trump, on the other hand, disgusts me, and sadly, those who support him for a second term disgust me as well. “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” His personal attributes are asocial at best, and many of his policies are unconstitutional, anti-American, and not what we should expect from the so-called “leader of the free world”.

Yes, Joe Biden is old, Democrats don’t seem to be able to get out of their own way in terms of getting the message of Biden’s accomplishments to the public, but please consider sending Joe back for however long he lasts. I wish there was another choice that had a better change of uniting the country, but there is not. Trump is disgusting, Kennedy is bat shit crazy, and then there is Biden. That’s it. If no labels run a candidate, it’s a possibility, but no third party candidate has ever won in modern times.
